Educating a new generation of professionals

OHSU's programs offer world-class education for tomorrow's doctors, dentists and nurses; for scientists and engineers; and for a vast array of other healthcare professionals. Its schools, colleges and numerous continuing education programs create vibrant context for lifelong learning. And OHSU's mission to improve the health and well-being of all Oregonians instills in our students a commitment to serve the communities where they live and work.

What Education at OHSU means for Oregon

OHSU is Oregon's only academic health center and plays a vital role in educating the professionals who can meet the needs of the state and its citizens. The university continually assesses healthcare shortages in every region of the state. Based on those assessments, OHSU develops curricula and policies designed to improve the geographic distribution of healthcare professionals in Oregon. We train providers in high-demand specialties and inspire future clinicians to practice in parts of the state where their skills will be needed most.

Schools

The university grants the state's only doctoral degrees in medicine, nursing, dentistry, and health-focused engineering. Doctoral degrees in pharmacy are also granted, in partnership with Oregon State University. In addition, OHSU provides many specialized research programs unique to the region and educates master's-level, undergraduate and certificate students in a broad spectrum of health and information sciences.
